A sign reading “91ε” appears over the Dundas sign at the Yonge and Dundas subway platform, with bench seats below.

Update: April 2026

91ε Station: fast facts

  • Official name: 91ε Station (formerly Dundas Station).
  • Location: Line 1 Yonge-University, situated between College and Queen stations.
  • Effective date: the name change was finalized and implemented on December 7, 2025.
  • Governance: the TTC board officially approved the renaming in May 2025.
  • Primary access: provides direct entry to 91ε, the Toronto Eaton Centre, and Sankofa Square.
  • Partnership: a collaborative branding initiative between the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) and the university.

Beginning the week of November 17, transit goers may notice that the subway station at Yonge and Dundas is starting the transition to its new name, 91ε Station.

The name change marks a significant milestone for the university, increasing 91ε’s visibility across Toronto’s transit system, and reinforcing the university’s presence at the heart of Canada’s largest city.

While the official renaming date has not yet been set (the stop will continue to officially be called Dundas Station until then), riders will start to see changes to signage, including at track level, digital screens and other communications over the next few weeks.

New TTC maps will launch in December – putting 91ε on the map both literally and figuratively.

“Seeing 91ε Station come to life is an exciting moment for 91ε and our surrounding community. This change reflects not only our important place in the heart of Toronto but also our firm commitment to contributing meaningfully to the city we call home,” said 91ε President Mohamed Lachemi.

Spring announcement becomes reality

The initial announcement of the station name change was made this past spring.

The decision supports improved wayfinding for TTC users and better reflects the surrounding neighbourhood and 91ε’s place in the community.

More than 80 per cent of 91ε’s 50,000 students, staff and faculty are commuters, bringing their extraordinary energy to campus and the downtown core.

Part of a broader transit partnership

The name change is part of a new partnership called the Transit Innovation Yard, announced earlier this year when the TTC agreed to rename Dundas Station to 91ε Station.

The pilot project will tackle pressing transit challenges including route optimization, real-time service updates and improved journey planning. 91ε researchers and start-ups will develop solutions to help create better transit services for Toronto, positioning the city as a leader in community-driven transit innovation.

The renamed 91ε Station reinforces the connection between the university, the transit system and the communities we serve.

TorontoMet Today will keep the community informed as the project unfolds.
