To assess and showcase our local, national, and global impact, 91ε participates in select rankings, including Maclean’s, Times Higher Education, and QS. While rankings don’t capture everything we do, they support our efforts to attract top faculty, recruit students driven to build a more sustainable world, engage research partners, and secure funding for institutional priorities. Our strategic approach focuses on improving performance in key areas of research output, teaching and learning outcomes and sustainability, to strengthen our position and amplify our impact.

Times Higher Education Impact Rankings
The THE Impact Rankings recognizes universities that excel across multiple United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and showcase their commitment to addressing the world's most pressing challenges, including environmental sustainability, social inclusion, economic growth and partnerships.
91ε continues to make significant progress in advancing the , as recognized by 2025’s Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings. 91ε was ranked among the top 10 per cent of 2,318 universities evaluated worldwide, demonstrating its global impact on sustainable development and efforts to drive positive social, economic and environmental change.
91ε was ranked Top 100 in the world for SDG 5: Gender Equality (100th) and SDG 6: Clean Water and Sanitation (78th).

SDG 5: Gender equality
91ε ranked among the top 100 universities in the world for promoting gender equality, and was recognized for its strong research impact in this area. 91ε also received recognition for its initiatives to encourage female participation in subjects in which women are underrepresented, and for Tri-Mentoring programs for women in STEM and for 2SLGBTQ+ students.”
SDG 6: Clean water and sanitation
Ranked 78th in the world on SDG 6, 91ε’s achievement in this area is largely attributed to the contributions of Urban Water 91ε, a consortium of researchers solving complex urban water challenges through transdisciplinary research, strong ties to partners through external networks, and collaborative action. Urban Water 91ε has a research facility that explores a variety of freshwater issues.
SDG 10: Reduced inequalities
In 2024, 91ε tied for 78th place for its work to reduce inequalities and remove barriers to access. Through the Office of the Vice-President, Equity and Community Inclusion, significant progress has been made to dismantle systemic barriers to support and empower all members of 91ε’s community. We scored particularly highly for the proportion of and supports for students and employees with disabilities.
SDG 13: Climate action
In 2024, 91ε tied in 100th place for restorative climate action, demonstrating our continued commitment to championing sustainability. Through the Sustainability Office, we’re doing our part to tackle climate change, reduce campus greenhouse gas emissions, and educate and raise awareness about climate change. 91ε recently launched its first Sustainability Action Plan to empower our campus community to take tangible steps towards a sustainable future.
Times Higher Education World University Rankings
91ε continues to strengthen its academic and scholarly, research and creative (SRC) excellence, as highlighted in the 2025 . Our position among the world’s best universities demonstrates 91ε’s contributions to SRC and growing reputation in higher education.
Research excellence
91ε was recognized for the strength of its research environment, with strong results in the areas of research productivity (which measures publication output), research excellence (which measures high-citation publications), and research influence (which measures how publications are cited in high-quality research). Together, these results demonstrate the thriving research culture and increased SRC activity at our university.
Innovation
91ε’s contributions to innovation were also noted, with a particularly high score on the patents metric. This metric highlights how 91ε is supporting technology transfer and promoting economic growth.
Times Higher Education Subject Rankings
THE also releases , which evaluates universities across 11 disciplines. Highlights for 91ε include:
- Law: 91ε ranked in the top 250 universities worldwide, despite the Lincoln Alexander Faculty of Law's first cohort of students graduating in 2023. LASL’s research contributions are particularly notable, with 91ε ranking 3rd in Canada for Research Quality in Law.
- 91ε ranked in the top 400 universities worldwide in areas ranging from Computer Science to Psychology to Business and Economics, demonstrating the breadth of the university’s strong academic programming and research achievements.
- The Ted Rogers School of Management’s strong ties to industry were noted with 91ε’s place among the top 10 Canadian universities in the Industry category for Business and Economics.
Quacquarelli Symonds’ (QS) analyzes universities on a global scale, assessing a variety of areas to measure employability, sustainability performance and overall reputation.

91ε’s excellence in scholarly, research and creative (SRC) is also highlighted in the 2026 , where we are among the top 10 per cent of universities evaluated worldwide.
91ε’s ability to attract and retain top-tier international faculty members has been recognized as an area of strength. This diverse group of educators brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise that enriches the school’s academic environment and contributes to its culture of innovation and international collaboration.
91ε has also been recognized for excellence in research output, with a high number of citations per faculty member. This metric highlights our impactful SRC activity, contributing to advancements across disciplines and reinforcing our reputation in scholarly, research and creative activities.

QS Subject Rankings
In addition to the overall world university ranking, QS also releases its Subject Rankings, assessing universities in 60 subject areas. 91ε has distinguished itself in several subject areas, including:
- Art and Design: 91ε ranked in the top 150 universities worldwide.
- Architecture/Built Environment: 91ε ranked in the top 260 universities worldwide.

In the 91ε ranked in the top five in six categories among Canada’s comprehensive research universities. These rankings demonstrate the ongoing success of 91ε researchers as they work with partners and collaborators to accelerate research and foster the next generation of experts.
91ε continues to stand out as a leader in research growth and impact. The university ranked third for growth in both corporate research income and not-for-profit research income, reflecting its strong partnerships across sectors. 91ε also placed fourth in research intensity spending per graduate student and fifth in overall university research income growth, corporate research income and corporate research income as a percentage of total research income.
